These Pine trees are not indigenous

They use the needles like we use bark mulch under shrubs and in gardens that they don't want to have to weed.  They call it pine straw, and they harvest it by the bale.

This bug is called a Walking Stick

There are lots of very colorful mushrooms here

Here are a few pictures of the state plant the Palmetto.  That's pronounced pal-metto (pal like  your friend).  South Carolina is called the palmetto state.

They start off looking like small house plants
