Maureen Visits Mom and Dad

Isn't she gorgeous,  You know she's my daughter, hey!

The requisite visit to Magnolia Plantation

The cultural even of the trip is a visit to the First Annual Awendaw Bluegrass Festival.

There are several local bands like this one that we've seen before called Common Ground

Y'all jis brang yer own sattin' thangs an' hav a listen.  Ya kin tap yer toe ifn y'all gits to feelin' the beat.

The headline act is Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder.  These guys are tight.  Except for the fact that bluegrass is claimed as one of the roots of modern Country music (which is easy to not like), it's pretty hard to find fault with this simple folk music from the hills of Tennessee, and West Virginia.

This young fiddle player was just awesome.

Folks git ta steppin' in time.

The event is held at a Biker Friendly bar with an outdoor undercover bar.  The Kickin' Horse Saloon

Maureen and I spend nearly 2 hours walking through the Francis Bielder Forest

The cool event was running on to these deadly cottonmouth water moccasins

The two here are engaged in some territorial or mating excerise.  It seems that they are in a contest to see who can raise themselves out of the water the furthest.

One finally leaves and swims off

Sorry I'm not getting my hand in the picture just so you lookie loos can get an ideal of the size.  Trust me it's about 5 feet long.

Gator lunch on the plater
